What We Do

What Happens If We Don't Step In?

When refugee and immigrant kids don’t get the support they need, the ripple effects are real—and heartbreaking.

They stay stuck.

Many arrive years behind in school, battling trauma, language barriers, and culture shock. Without help, catching up feels impossible.

They lose hope.

Struggling to make friends, falling behind, and feeling invisible takes a toll. Kids begin to believe they don’t belong—anywhere.

Their families suffer.

These kids often become interpreters for their parents. If they’re lost, their families are too—cut off from the community and essential services.

The cycle repeats.

Without support, these children are more likely to stay trapped in poverty and miss out on the futures they’re capable of.

How We Help

At Katikati, we don’t just acknowledge the struggles refugee and immigrant kids face.
We step in where others often don’t.

We meet them where they are.

Many arrive years behind in school, battling trauma, language barriers, and culture shock.
Without help, catching up feels impossible.

  We guide them forward.

From tutoring and homework help to language support and mentorship, we equip children with the tools they need to catch up academically and thrive socially.
Our team helps them dream again—and start taking steps toward those dreams.

  We build bridges.

We support entire families, not just individual kids.
When children feel confident and capable, they become the link that helps their families connect
to schools, services, and their new community.

  We stay.

We don’t just show up for a semester—we stick around.
The trust we build with families grows into long-term relationships that evolve as the children grow.
Some of our early students are now mentors themselves.

About Us

At Katikati USA, Inc., we understand how important it is for refugee and immigrant children to feel at home and thrive in their new environment.

These kids deserve the chance to succeed, but they often face huge challenges—like language barriers, trauma, and adjusting to a completely new culture.

Many arrive already far behind in school, and that can make them feel lost and disconnected.

Our communities suffer when we ignore these struggling children and youth. And without educating the upcoming generation, their family will never climb out of poverty.

However, when we help these children and youth become educated, confident, and feel a sense of belonging, they contribute skills and knowledge that strengthen our communities and improve our lives.

That’s why we’ve committed ourselves to supporting
these children in ways that truly make a difference.

Programs

Jump Ahead

Jump Ahead helps immigrant and refugee children avoid the "summer slide" by providing engaging summer tutoring and enrichment activities.

Students build foundational skills in reading, math, and science while exploring new ideas, making friends, and gaining confidence to have a successful school year.

Ready to Learn

Ready to Learn ensures that every child starts school equipped and excited.

Through the distribution of grade-appropriate backpacks filled with school supplies and a welcoming classroom experience, this program supports academic readiness and helps children feel confident, cared for, and part of their new learning community.

Summit Scholars

Summit Scholars is an intensive summer school retreat held in a one-room schoolhouse. It offers immersive academic instruction in English, Science, Geography, and U.S. history, paired with outdoor exploration.

Designed to accelerate learning and leadership skills, it's a transformational experience for motivated refugee and immigrant youth.

How We Provide Value

 Confidence That Lasts

We help children rebuild self-esteem in safe, supportive spaces where they are seen, heard, and celebrated.

 Academic & Life Skills Support

We strengthen learning and real-world skills that open doors to opportunity and success.

 Community & Belonging

We foster friendships and guide children to move confidently beyond cultural enclaves, finding joy and belonging in America’s diverse community.

If we fail to help these children, we accept, generational, poverty, and wasted potential.

But the greatest loss is to our community – when their resilient, diverse voices are never heard, we lose the innovations, leadership, and wisdom they were meant to bring.

Guide

By meeting refugee and immigrant youth where they are, we are able to provide academic and life skills support, combined with mentorship and community connections to help them thrive in
